Superbet R&B 2022 Day 3: Vishy Anand wins the Rapid with a round to spare

Vishy Anand won the Rapid event of Superbet Rapid and Blitz 2022 with a round to spare. His last round loss against Richard Rapport did not have an effect on it. Currently, Anand has a full point lead heading into the Blitz event. The maestro started the day with a win over IM David Gavrilescu (ROU), then he drew with Fabiano Caruana (USA) before suffering his first loss of the event. Anand is at 14.0/18, Rapport 13.0/18 and Duda 12.0/18. Chessable Masters 2022 R5-8: Praggnanandhaa beats Magnus Carlsen again

Exactly three months after Praggnanandhaa beat Magnus Carlsen for the very first time at Airthings Masters on 20th February 2022, he did it again in the fifth round of Meltwater Champions Chess Tour Chessable Masters. This time the world champion blundered a whole knight during the final seconds and resigned immediately in the next move. Pragg drew with Harikrishna in the next round, defeated Gawain Jones before losing to David Anton Guijarro to finish the day. Wei Yi maintained his sole lead 15.0/24. He is followed by Anton and Carlsen at 15.0/24 each. Giri is at sole fourth place 14.0/24. Pragg is currently sharing the fifth place with Ding Liren 12.0/24. Round 9 starts tonight at 9:30 p.m. IST. Vishy Anand continues his great momentum at Superbet Rapid and Blitz 2022. He started the day with two consecutive wins over talented Ukrainian GM Kirill Shevchenko and Levon Aronian. Anand defeated Aronian in just 24 moves with some sharp play. His tactical alertness combined with sound play ensured he is still at the top of the points table. The legend drew with the FIDE World Cup 2021 winner, Jan-Krzysztof Duda in the sixth round. Anand kept pushing till the very end, however, the Poland no.1 stood his ground. Vishy Anand made a return to a tournament for the first time since December 2021. He scored three wins effortlessly. Of course, it goes without saying that the great ones make it look simple and easy when in reality it is not. He scored a hat-trick of wins against Radoslaw Wojtaszek (POL), Wesley So (USA) and Anton Korobov (UKR). USA's Fabiano Caruana and Levon Aronian along with Jan-Krzysztof Duda (POL) are in the chase at 4.0/6 each. Chessable Masters 2022 R1-4: Wei Yi takes an early sole lead

Harikrishna and Praggnanandhaa made an identical start of 5.0/12 in Meltwater Champions Chess Tour Chessable Masters 2022. Both of them scored a win each against Aryan Tari (NOR), drew two games and lost only one. Pragg drew with the current tournament leader Wei Yi in the first round. The youngster finished the day with a draw against Sweden no.1 Nils Grandelius. Vidit Gujrathi drew all four of his games. Wei Yi (CHN) is followed by three players at 8.0/12. They are - Ding Liren (CHN), Anish Giri (NED) and Magnus Carlsen (NOR). All four of them are undefeated so far. Round 5 starts tonight at 9:30 p.m. IST.

There are a lot of chess variants in the world. Fischer Random or Chess960 is undoubtedly the most popular one. Wesley So is the first official World Champion of that variant. Dynamo Chess is a chess variant which was first introduced to the public in 2015 after being in development from 2012 to 2015. Kolkata-based Realtor, Mr. Pradeep Sadani is the inventor of this chess variant. GM Dibyendu Barua made an important decision to give Dynamo's current movement, which is like a knight or a bishop at any given point of time. Our very own Editor and Senior Coordinator, Shahid Ahmed convinced the rules of the game such as castling, en passant etc. The first ever Dynamo Chess tournament takes place tomorrow, Friday 20th May 2022.

The second event of the 2022 season of Grand Chess Tour is Superbet Rapid and Blitz. Poland is the new addition to the Grand Chess Tour in this season. Vishy Anand will return to competitive tournament for the first time since December 2021. He will be joined by World Class players at the Rapid and Blitz event such as Levon Aronian, Fabiano Caruana, Wesley So, Richard Rapport, Jan-Krzysztof Duda, Anton Korobov, Radoslaw Wojtaszek, Kirill Shevchenko and 18-year-old teenager IM David Gavrilescu. Ding Liren earns the final spot in the Candidates 2022

Seven out of the eight Candidates were already determined in late March this year. Ding Liren was trying to fulfill the minimum number of rated games requirement to be eligible for Candidates 2022. He not only climbed to the World no.2 position in the process, much to nobody's surprise, he earned his way into the Candidates 2022 too. He will replace Sergey Karjakin who was banned earlier by the FIDE Ethics and Disciplinary Commission. Appeal Chamber of the FIDE Ethics and Disciplinary Commission (EDC) announced its decision to dismiss Karjakin's appeal on 6th May 2022. The fourth leg of Meltwater Champions Chess Tour 2022 season is the third edition of Chessable Masters. Vidit Gujrathi, Pentala Harikrishna and Praggnanandhaa the Indian trio will make a return to the tour together after Charity Cup this past March. Chess Grad wins 1st CEG Trophy State level Open Team 2022

The top two seeds of the tournament, Chess Grad and SSN College of Engineering scored an unbeaten 15.0/16. ChessGrad clinched the 1st CEG Trophy State level Team Chess Tournament 2022 due to better tie-break score. SSN had to settle for the second place. Five teams scored 12.0/16. Out of them, Velammal Engineering College secured the third place due to better tie-break score. The total prize fund for the tournament was ₹85000. CEG alumnus, India's 66th GM Akash G is the founder of Castle Red and Chess Grad. He played a keyrole in organizing this tournament. Manush Shah becomes the latest International Master of India

25-year-old Manush Shah scored his final IM-norm at IM Third Saturday 257. He became the latest International Master of India on 14th May 2022. He also won the tournament in the process. The young man from Gujarat, scored his first IM-norm at GM Round Robin Third Saturday 83 in November 2018. The second IM-norm was scored at GM Third Saturday 105 in February 2019. Covid-19 pandemic delayed his title hopes. He took a tournament to get into the rhythm and won the next one to score his final IM-norm. Novi Sad is certainly a good place for Manush as he scored all three of his IM-norms there. He also crossed 2400 at the very same place in March 2019.

Mitrabha Guha clinches 1st Talent Chess Academy All India Rapid Rating Open 2022

After finishing second at KL University Rapid Rating Open with an unbeaten 7.5/9, Mitrabha once again remained undefeated at Talent Chess Academy Rapid Rating Open. Only this time he improved his score 7.5/8 and finished a half point ahead of the field to win the tournament. Four players scored 7.0/8 - GM Karthik Venkataraman, FM J Ramakrishna, IM Raahul V S and IM Ravi Teja S. They were placed second to fifth according to the tie-breaks. IM C R G Krishna scored an unbeaten 7.5/8 to win the Blitz Rating Open. He also finished a half point ahead of the field. Five players scored 7.0/7 - GM Karthik, IM Viani Antonio Dcunha, GM Mitrabha, IM Dhulipalla Bala Chandra Prasad and Kunal M. They secured second to sixth place according to tie-breaks. Avirat Chauhan and Charvi triumph at MPL 34th National U-8 Open and Girls Chess Championships 2022

Avirat Chauhan (MAH) and Charvi A (KAR) won their respective final round games to win MPL 34th National Under-8 Open and Girls Chess Championship 2022. Charvi A once again scored an unbeaten 10.5/11 to claim her second National age group title. She finished a whopping 1.5 points ahead of the competition. Pooja Shree R (TN) and Samhita Pungavanam (TEL) scored 9.0/11 each. They secured second and third place respectively according to tie-breaks. Avirat won AICF Online National Under-7 Open last year.
