Kartavya Anadkat conquers Smt. Chanchal Dad Memorial Rating Open 2024

Kartavya Anadkat scored an unbeaten 8/9 to win Smt. Chanchal Dad Memorial Rating Open 2024. He finished a half point ahead of the field. Arshpreet Singh, Bhaavan Kolla and Kishan Kumar scored 7.5/9 each. They were placed second to fourth respectively according to tie-breaks. Top two remained undefeated. The total prize fund was ₹500000. The top three prizes were ₹75000, ₹40000 and ₹25000 along with a trophy each. The five-day nine-round tournament was organized by District Chess Association Bhilwara at Sri Ramsnehi Palace Vatika in Bhilwara, Rajasthan from 24th to 28th July 2024. Saint Louis Rapid 2024 R4-6: Abdusattorov and Caruana play a Queen endgame for the ages

If you have to study only one game from the second day of Grand Chess Tour Saint Louis Rapid 2024, then it would be the endgame between Nodirbek Abdusattorov (UZB) and Fabiano Caruana (USA). Sure, the former World Rapid champion should have won that game in a thousand different ways. The fact of the matter is, it was not easy to calculate precisely in less time. It is an extremely complex queen endgame which Dr. GM Karsten Mueller would love to analyze and undoubtedly will go into many future endgame books. Arjun Erigaisi, Harika Dronavalli and Telangana Chess Heroes honored at the 2nd Chess Festival by ChessBase India

On the 10th of August, ChessBase India successfully organized the 2nd Chess Festival at the Shri Ram Academy International School in Hyderabad. The event consisted of a puzzle -solving contest, a Blitz tournament, and a felicitation ceremony. A total of 132 players participated in the event. The highlight of the tournament was the felicitation event where the chief guests GM Arjun Erigaisi and GM Harika Dronavalli, the chess players from Telangana who performed exceptionally on the National and International level in last year, coaches, organizers, journalists, and visionaries in the chess field were felicitated. Dinesh Rajan M scored 7.5/9 to win Aix-en-Provence Dole Trophy Below 2200 International 2024. He finished a half point ahead of the rest. Sham R and Elise Tomasi (FRA) scored 7/9 each. They secured second and third place respectively according to tie-breaks. The total prize fund of three tournaments was €40000, €3120 for Group B. The top three prizes were €800, €550 and €350 along with a trophy each. It was organized by Echiquier du Roy René in Aix-en-Provence, France from 20th to 28th July 2024. Aronyak Ghosh wins 36th All India Railway Individual Championship 2024

Four players - IM Aronyak Ghosh (Eastern Railway), GM Diptayan Ghosh (Eastern Railway), IM Nitin S (Southern Railway) and GM Mitrabha Guha (Metro) scored 5.5/7 each at 36th All India Railway Individual Chess Championship 2024. The highest rated IM of the country, Aronyak won the tournament on tie-breaks. The remaining three were placed second to fourth respectively. Aronyak drew with the eventual runner-up, Nitin in the final round to become the champion. Top three remained undefeated. Saint Louis Rapid 2024 R1-3: A tough start for Praggnanandhaa

R Praggnanandhaa had a rough start at Grand Chess Tour Saint Louis Rapid 2024. He drew against Levon Aronian (USA) then lost his next two games against Maxime Vachier-Lagrave (FRA) and Ian Nepomniachtchi. In the first two games, he got himself a better position. Yet he was unable to capitalize on his chances. His tough form continues from Biel GMT. MVL has gained an early sole lead scoring 5/6. He is closely followed by Nepomniachtchi, Aronian and Leinier Dominguez Perez (USA) at 4/6 each. The defending champion, Fabiano Caruana (USA) also had a forgettable start. He could only muster 1/6. Pranesh M triumphs at Aix-en-Provence Dole Trophy International 2024, Abhimanyu Puranik third

GM Pranesh M scored 7.5/9 to win Aix-en-Provence Dole Trophy International A (>2100) 2024. It was the biggest chess tournament in France in a long time. Four players - GM Pierre Laurent-Paoli (FRA), GM Abhimanyu Puranik, GM Maxime Lagarde (FRA) and GM Bharath Subramaniyam H scored 7/9 each. They were placed second to fifth respectively according to tie-breaks. Pranesh defeated compatriot Iniyan in the final round to become. Abhimanyu's draw against Pierre, helped Pranesh to become champion. Pierre was the only player to beat the eventual champion, Pranesh. The total prize fund of three tournaments was €40000, €30000 for Group A. The top three prizes were €8000, €5500 and €3500 along with a trophy each. The fourth event of the Grand Chess Tour 2024 season is Saint Louis Rapid and Blitz. The defending champion, Fabiano Caruana (USA) will be seen in action along with Hikaru Nakamura (USA), Ian Nepomniachtchi, Nodirbek Abdusattorov (UZB), Alireza Firouzja (FRA), Wesley So (USA), R Praggnanandhaa, Leinier Dominguez Perez (USA), Levon Aronian (USA) and Maxime Vachier-Lagrave (FRA). Praggnanandhaa will be the sole Indian taking part in this event. Who do you think will win this tournament? The tournament takes place at The World Chess Hall of Fame in Saint Louis, Missouri, USA. Eight players scored 8/9 at 1st Pro Skillcraft Rapid Rating Open 2024. They are - IM Anuj Shrivatri, IM Aaditya Dhingra, Sudhir Kumar Sinha, IM Mayank Chakraborty, Santu Mondal, IM Aaradhya Garg, Harish Sharma and Daksh Goyal. Anuj won the tournament on tie-breaks. The remaining seven were placed second to eighth respectively. Anuj, Aaditya, Santu and Aaradhya remained undefeated. The total prize fund was ₹640000. The top three prizes were ₹50000, ₹30000 and ₹20000 along with a huge trophy each. The tournament was organized by Skillcraft and Eminent Chess Academy at Thyagraj Indoor Stadium in New Delhi on 27th and 28th July 2024. Visit Pattaya and Play in the Thailand Pattaya Open 2024

Thailand Pattaya Open will be back after a nearly five year hiatus. Covid-19 pandemic caused the tournament to take a sabbatical. Jarunpol Sajjaporthep, Founder and President of Pattaya Chess Club, and his better half, Khammpliw Jitasan, are bringing back the third edition of this big chess festival. Youth and Senior events will take place from 5th to 9th October, Open and Amateur events will be held from 9th to 18th October. Blitz event will take place on 13th and 14th October. Mandar Pradip Lad prevails at Goa State Senior Open Rating 2024

Top seed Mandar Pradip Lad (Bardez) scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 to win Goa State Senior Open Rating 2024. He finished a full point ahead of the rest. 9-year-old Aaryavrat Rasiket Naik Desai (Canacona) scored sole 7.5/9 to finish second. Devesh Anand Naik (Ponda) and 10-year-old Shubh Vishnu Borkar (Salcete) scored 7/9 each. They secured third and fourth place respectively according to tie-breaks. Mandar drew with eventual runner-up, Aaryavrat in the fourth round and defeated the second runner-up, Devesh in the eighth. The top three prizes were ₹10000, ₹7000 and ₹5000 along with a trophy each. The tournament was organized by Goa Chess Association at Government College of Commerce and Economics, Borda, Margao, Goa from 24th to 28th July 2024. Pratik Gengaje dominates 17th Paleochora International B 2024 with a perfect score

Third seed Pratik Gengaje scored a perfect 9/9 to win 17th Paleochora International B Group (<1900) 2024. He finished a staggering two points ahead of the competition. Four players - Emma Mkhitaryan (ARM), Dimitrios Nik Papanikolaou (GRE), Panagiotis Charalampos Angelopoulos (GRE) and Theofilos Symeonidis (GRE) scored 7/9 each. They were placed second to fifth respectively according to tie-breaks. Pratik defeated the eventual runner-up, Emma in the seventh round. The total prize fund of the tournament was €7000. The top three prizes were €300, €200 and €100 along with a trophy each. The tournament was organized by Chania Chess Academy, Region of Chania, Municipality of Kandanos-Selino at Paleochora School & Cultural Center of Paleochora in Paleochora, Greece from 20th to 27th July 2024. FIDE/WFCC special project: 1st World Youth Chess Solving Championships

The FIDE Centenary celebrations include some new and promising projects in cooperation with the World Federation for Chess Competition. In November, the World Youth Solving Championships for girls and boys will be held in Florianópolis, the capital of southern Brazil's Santa Catarina state, where juniors will be solving eight problems and endgames on November 4, during the free day of the World Youth Chess Championships. You can try your hand at a typical puzzle like the ones they will get.

India wins Silver and Bronze at 23rd IPCA World Individual Championship 2024

Alimzhan Ayapov (KAZ) scored 7/9 to win 23rd IPCA World Individual Championship 2024. He finished a half point ahead of the field. Five players scored 6.5/9 each. Out of them FM Sander Severino (PHI) and FM Sargis Sargissyan (ARM) secured second and third place respectively according to tie-breaks. CM Samarth J Rao scored 6/9 to finish ninth overall. He earned Silver in Men Wheelchair category. Sharon Rachel Abby scored 2.5/9 to win Bronze in Women in Wheelchair category. The top three prizes were €3000, €2000 and €1500 along with a cup, medal and diploma each. The tournament was organized by International Physically Disabled Chess Association and Chess Academy of Armenia at Black Fortress, Gyumri in Shirak, Armenia from 20th to 27th July 2024.
